Dwight Howard should leave Lakers
It seems that there is a terrible trend happening for NBA player Dwight Howard. For the past few years in the offseason it seems that Howard is involved with trade talks and team chemistry issues. Howard has been working on his diva role more than his free throws. Los Angeles is not the right fit for Howard because the media puts a ton of pressure on stars to win NBA titles.
Howard...

Where does New York go from here? Knicks lose more than just Game 6
The New York Knicks were supposed to battle the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference title. Turns out that the Indiana Pacers are the ones who will be facing the Heat. Carmelo Anthony played great in the series, but one person does not a team make. Jason Kidd was M.I.A., J.R. Smith’s highlight was his elbow that got him ejected during the series against Boston, and Amar’e Stoudemire...
Will Michael Kidd-Gilchrist become a Hornet?
Back in June of 2012, Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist became the first pair of teammates to be selected #1 and #2 in the NBA Draft. The New Orleans Hornets selected Davis, and MKG went to Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcats. The New Orleans franchise made some news with their proposals to change the nickname from Hornets to Pelicans at season’s end. With Anthony Davis...
Ian Kinsler slide fail!
We are coached in Little League on the correct forms of sliding. It becomes old hat once you advance further into your baseball career. Yet to err is human. We are not perfect. Even baseball players show that they can forget the simplest things like slideing into third. Texas Rangers Ian Kinsler was proof of that last night as his team took on the Detroit Tigers. Not only did the...
Best College Hoops recruiting classes since 2000
Browsing through the web, I came across this article from Athlon Sports about ranking the best college hoops recruiting classes since the year 2000. Since John Calipari’s arrival at Kentucky, I was sure he and the Wildcats would be on the list a few times. Jim Boheim (Syracuse), and Jim Calhoun (UConn) have three appearances each. Bill Self (Illinois/Kansas) and John Calipari...
Aaron Harrison named Mr. Basketball in Texas
Future Kentucky Wildcat shooting guard Aaron Harrison has won Mr. Basketball in the state of Texas. Harrison beat out future teammates Julius Randle, and his brother Andrew for the honor. Aaron Harrison averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game for Travis High School in Richmond, Texas. The Travis Tigers, lead by the Harrison’s, won the state championship...
Is Cauley-Stein ready for a breakout season?
Willie Cauley-Stein came into the fold at Kentucky as the “other” big guy in a recruiting class that featured the #1 overall recruit and maybe the next #1 NBA Draft pick. Cauley-Stein was highly rated, but not as high as a typical John Calipari recruit. He was not the #1 player at his position, he wasn’t winning player of the year awards, and he had a fairly quiet recruitment...
David Beckham is the most important soccer player, ever
Today David Beckham is known worldwide, mostly for his looks but believe it or not David Beckham actually played soccer, aka football, and was at one time a world class player!
Becks recently announced his retirement from the soccer world, and at 38, it was certainly time. He began professional football at the age of 17 when he made his debut for Manchester United in 1992 in a League...
Phil Jackson says Jordan is better than Kobe
There have been many instances where Phil Jackson was asked who he thought was better, Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. Since Jackson coached both superstars he would know better than others who try and weigh in on this issue. When he coached MJ they won six NBA titles together and just one less when Phil was in L.A. with Kobe.
Countless times he was asked and as per usual Phil would...
Who will challenge Orb in the Preakness?
I spoke to J.J. Hysell horse racing handicapper extraordinaire earlier this week to get her breakdown of the Preakness Stakes. Will anyone challenge Orb? If so, who? Will Goldencents make up for his lackluster effort in the Derby? And more.
You can follow J.J. on Twitter at @TrifectaBox, and I highly recommend that you do so. She knows how to pick ‘em. On our weekly radio show...
Jenna Fischer…UH YUMP!!!
Last night was the series finale of the office. Jenna Fischer’s character, Pam, laid down a lot of life lessons. So take those to heart. One thing you can always take to heart is her yumpness.

Goodwin struggles at NBA Combine
Former Kentucky guard Archie Goodwin was one of those players I thought needed another year in college. Goodwin is physically not ready for the pro game, and he’s more than likely going to be in the D-League. I always had a feeling his mind was in the NBA while he was still serving his 1-year in Lexington. Goodwin never seemed to develop or improve that much under the coaching...
Brittney Griner Gets Coached by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Brittney Griner has had many great coaches in her life. Her latest coach is one she will never forget. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was teaching Griner his famous skyhook shot. Jabbar had a one on one clinic for the future WNBA star.
”I went to legend school today and it was awesome,” Griner said at the Phoenix Mercury’s practice court.
The number one overall draft pick for this...

Owners reject Kings move to Seattle, Stern talks expansion
On Wednesday, NBA owners voted unanimously to reject the Kings’ proposal to move to Seattle. At the start of the second quarter of last night’s Grizzlies/Thunder game, commissioner David Stern spoke about the news and then addressed the possibilities of Seattle still getting a team.
He first spoke about what the Kings need to do to stay in Sacramento long term, “The next 24...

The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team ended the spring semester with a cumulative 3.40 GPA. Kentucky’s athletes as a whole scored a combined 3.14 GPA for the spring, the highest mark under UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart. During the fall semester, the UK athletes compiled a 3.03 GPA as well.
Here is a statement from UK A.D. Mitch Barnhart:

’14 UK Football commits use Twitter to recruit
Started by recent QB commit Drew Barker, the 2014 football recruiting class has joined together on one Twitter account. The purpose of the account is for these players to reach out to other recruits in an effort to get them to come to Lexington. Barker had the idea after being contacted by the University of Tennessee’s 2014 commits Twitter account. @UTLegendClass regularly tweeted...
Davis, MKG make NBA All Rookie Teams
The Kentucky Wildcats produced the top two picks in the 2012 NBA Draft. Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left the ‘Cats after winning the national championship and hanging banner #8. For high draft picks, the fear of being a “bust” is always looming around their careers. The higher the draft pick, the more the expectations. For Davis and MKG, that meant being the two...
Kobie Walker commits to UK
Kobie Walker, a 3-star player from Maryland has decided to join Mark Stoops and Kentucky football for 2014. Walker’s commitment comes after most Kentucky fans were in a roller-coaster of emotions. Some are still elated about QB Drew Barker picking the ‘Cats over Steve Spurrier and South Carolina. And others are a little more somber due to Andrew Wiggins decided to Rock Chalk...

Dakari Johnson’s Senior Mixtape
Dakari Johnson is the #1 center in the 2013 class, and he’s coming to Lexington to join the Big Blue Nation next season. Johnson is the most traditional center I have seen come to Kentucky since Demarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton. 6’10”, 6’11” guys are now supposed to be able to play like guards and shoot three-pointers. Johnson is a big body, and he likes to use that frame...
Calipari, UK chasing greatness in ’13-’14
John Calipari held a press conference this morning to discuss next season, and a little about Andrew Wiggins. He began the presser with this quote “What we’re about to undertake has never been done before.” No other team in the past has had this many freshmen that are expected to lead a program to a national championship. These freshmen are better than your average incoming...
