The Detroit Tigers could be without Miguel Cabrera for the next handful of games but all signs point to star avoiding the disabled list. Cabrera, 30, is having another fine season with 30 home runs and 96 RBI through 96 games. In the top of the fifth inning of Monday’s game Cabrera injured his hip while running the bases. The Tigers could keep him out of action for a few days.

Pirates closer Jason Grilli leaves game with arm injury

Pittsburgh Pirates closer Jason Grilli left Monday;s game with a sore right forearm. Grilli, 36, recently recorded his 30th save of the season. The Pirates will re-evaluate Grilli prior to Tuesday’s game but there is cause for concern. A forearm injury could linger the rest of this season. Mark Melancon will close for the Pirates while Grilli is out.

Big Show making return tonight on RAW

The Big Show will make his return to Monday Night Raw tonight. Big Show last competed in May losing to Randy Orton at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view and then losing to Chris Jericho on SmackDown. Big Show suffered a torn labrum and would be sidelined from in-ring action indefinitely. It will be interesting to see how Big Show is used. During his WWE tenure he has been both a heel and a face.

Diamondbacks move Brad Ziegler into closers role

Brad Ziegler converted his third consecutive save for the Diamondbacks on Sunday and now the 33-year-old will serve as the teams closer for the foreseeable future.
