Casper Ruud is one of those who will feature in the second round of the Shanghai Masters on Day 3. The Norwegian is looking to climb the ATP Race to Turin with just a few tournaments remaining. Who will advance to the next round? We have predictions for every day 3 match in Shanghai.

ATP Shanghai Day 3 Predictions

Jenson Brooksby vs Tallon Griekspoor

Head-to-head: Brooksby 1-0 Griekspoor

Brooksby is having a resurgent comeback season. When the ATP year-end awards are released, the American might be nominated for Comeback Player of the Year after lifting his first Tour-level title in April and reaching a second final in Eastbourne. Earlier this week, he finished as a semifinalist in Tokyo and carried that momentum to Shanghai, where he looked imperious in a 7-6 6-1 rout of James Trotter. Griekspoor has experienced an unexpected drop in form in the second half of 2025. He’s chasing a first hard-court win since Indian Wells, but that is unlikely to come in the form Brooksby is in.

Prediction: Brooksby in 2

Benjamin Bonzi vs Gabriel Diallo

Head-to-head: first meeting

September was a quiet month for Diallo, who only played two matches. One of those was a singles win at the Davis Cup, where he helped Canada reach the 2026 Qualifiers. And his second match was in Tokyo, where he drew the short straw of facing Taylor Fritz in the opening round and lost in three sets. Bonzi also took an extended break and only featured once last month, but he was still sharp and composed on his return to Shanghai. The Frenchman saw off big-serving Reilly Opelka in straight sets in the first round. Diallo has the power to control this match with the serve+1, but Bonzi might manage the bigger moments better, especially after navigating a tricky opener against a big server.

Prediction: Bonzi in 3

Alexander Bublik vs Valentin Vacherot

Head-to-head: first meeting

The season is now at a stage where Bublik is a serious contender for one of the top eight spots in the Race to Turin. A consistent spell of deep runs at the remaining Masters could help his cause. And the Kazakh has shown this season that he’s got the confidence and self-belief to make it happen. Bublik has the second-most titles on the ATP Tour in 2025, having captured the Hangzhou Open last month. A post-title hangover was to be expected in Beijing, where Bublik lost routinely to Mannarino, but normal service should resume in Shanghai, where the 28-year-old is not defending points.

Prediction: Bublik in 2

Casper Ruud vs Zizou Bergs

Head-to-head: first meeting

ATP Shanghai is one of Ruud’s least productive Masters tournaments. The Norwegian has won two career matches at the event (both in 2023) but lost his opening match last season. Ruud will enter this year’s edition with some serious momentum after reaching the semifinals of the Japan Open this past week, where he nearly defeated Carlos Alcaraz. Although Bergs hasn’t quite hit the same purple patch this swing, he did shock Sebastian Korda in the first round, and his aggressive shotmaking on these quick courts could potentially stretch this match to three.

Prediction: Ruud in 3
