'Nothing can scare you,' Grigor Dimitrov has finally found a way to be ‘comfortable’ in his skin as he reflects on his successes at the Australian Open

Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has suddenly become a player to watch out for at the age of 32. At the beginning of his career, it was said that he had great potential and was even compared to the greats like Roger Federer.

However, playing in the era of the Big 3, it was difficult for any player to make a name for themselves, and the Bulgarian also got lost in the crowd. However, he is now apparently making a comeback in his career.

Grigor Dimitrov recently won his first trophy in the last six years at the 2024 Brisbane International by beating Holger Rune in the final.

His performance in the 2023 season was extremely consistent, and he was decent in almost all the tournaments. He has now started 2024 on a high by winning a trophy in his first tournament, and he will definitely look to have a better season than last year.

Talking about his transition as a player, Grigor Dimitrov said that he now feels more comfortable in his skin and is more humble than ever. He believes that that is the crux of the good things that are happening in his career at the moment.

I feel so much more humble than I’ve ever felt. And I think it feels like I’m starting to be more comfortable in my own skin whether I win or lose. And I think this is where a lot of good things can come from. He said. (H/T: Tennis.com)

That’s not all, as per the tennis professional himself, having played in the era of the Big-3 all his life, it is probably much easier to play against the fairly younger players now who are currently evolving as players.

I'm not complaining I played in that era, I loved it. I would never give it up for anything. The experience that I gathered throughout the years and playing against these guys, my God, honestly, after that, nothing can scare you. Continuing further, he added

He thus said that he was fortunate to have played against players like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic

In the first round, he registered an easy win over Hungarian player Márton Fucsovics in four sets. Dimitrov lost the first set against Fucsovics but made a stunning comeback in the next three sets to ensure his qualification for the next round.

Thanasi Kokkinakis, on the other hand, faced Sebastian Ofner in the first round. The Australian emerged victorious after a thrilling 5-set battle. Grigor Dimitrov has not faced the Australian yet and thus it will be the first time that they go head-to-head against each other.

Grigor Dimitrov, who is the 13th seed in the Grand Slam, is the favorite to win this match.
