MINNEAPOLIS--For the second consecutive season, Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen has won the WNBA's Peak Performer Award for assists. The award is given out annually to the players who lead the league in scoring, rebounding and assists. Whalen finished the 2012 season averaging 5.39 assists per game, barely beating Seattle's Sue Bird (5.34 assists per game). Whalen's 178 total assists were also the most of any player in the league. The Lynx guard finished 22 of the 33 games in which she played with five or more assists. Whalen played a crucial part in the Lynx's WNBA-best 27-7 record this season, with two buzzer-beating, game-winning shots. She also was a prolific scorer, putting up a season-high 29 points on July 15 in Phoenix. Angel McCoughtry and Tina Charles won the honors for scoring and rebounding, respectively.
