Sabrina Ionescu's Signature Nike Sneakers Drop This Friday

One of the most highly anticipated sneaker releases of the year is taking place this week. No, it's not a rare retro model or a limited edition collaboration; it is the first signature basketball shoe for Sabrina Ionescu.

The WNBA All-Star and New York Liberty guard has represented Nike since her days with the Oregon Ducks. Iobescu was always a lock to become a signature athlete. Still, not many people could have expected her first performance basketball shoe to be an immediate hit in the sneaker community.

Since the earliest images of the Nike Sabrina 1 leaked earlier this year, athletes and fans quickly gravitated to the shoe. The hype for the unreleased model got out of control when someone stole two pairs of Ionescu's shoes from the team's locker room. It's been two weeks, and the game-worn kicks (and expensive custom insoles) were never returned.

The Nike Sabrina 1 launches in the 'Ionic' and 'Spark' colorways at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Friday, September 1. Online shoppers can buy the shoes for $130 in adult sizes on the Nike website.

The 'Ionic' colorway sports a mesh upper in a color Nike is calling Photon Dust with Light Smoke Grey wrapped around the heel and ankle. The Swoosh logos stand out in Anthracite, while the Oxygen Purple outsole provides a cool base.

The 'Spark' colorway uses Oxygen Purple on the upper, contrasted by a blend of Lemon Chiffon and Ice Peach. The Swoosh logos, ankle collars, and outsoles pop off in a core black.

Both colorways feature the same premium technology. The lightweight model contains a top-loaded forefoot Air Zoom unit with a full-length React foam core to deliver the ideal balance of stability, ground control, and cushioning. Built for crafty players like Ionescu, the Nike Sabrina 1 is made for anyone ready to put in the work.
