CM Punk provides injury update ahead of WrestleMania

CM Punk was supposed to be a big part of WrestleMania 40. His return to WWE at War Games in Nov. 2023 set him up for a major run toward the marquee event.

However, he suffered a torn triceps when competing in the Royal Rumble. As such, Punk's wait to headline WrestleMania continues.

Nevertheless, Punk could still have a role to play throughout the two-day premium live event. As such, there has undoubtedly been an interest surrounding where he's at with his recovery and rehabilitation.

Fortunately for the fans, Punk has now provided an update. His comments came while speaking to Ariel Helwani on Monday's episode of "The MMA Hour."

"I feel really, really good. There is part of me that doesn’t want everybody to know. I want to keep a bit of a secret. I feel way better than I think I should. It’s giving me a false sense of security. They are protecting me against myself, which is a welcome change," Punk said (h/t to Fightful for the transcription). "I’m the one trying to push everything based on protocols for a ruptured tricep tendon. They’re telling me to pump the brakes. I’m sitting back and listening to them as best I can."

At a minimum, we know we will see Punk operate as a commentator at WrestleMania. He's confirmed to be a guest commentator for the World Heavyweight Championship bout between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.

Punk is expected to have storylines with both of those stars once he returns from injury. As such, there is undoubtedly some speculation as to whether he could interfere with the match.

WrestleMania will undoubtedly have some surprises in store for us. However, Punk's involvement is unlikely to be one of them. No matter what happens, the weekend is set to be one of the best in wrestling history.
