When Nick Aldis announced that Cody Rhodes would land a new challenger for King and Queen of the Ring, few fans expected to see Logan Paul walk down the ramp, entering the ring with his United States Championship belt in hand.

Was Paul, the mid-card belt holder on SmackDown, really going to do a title-versus-title bout with the second-generation WWE Champion? Or would WWE figure out a way to work around that, allowing Paul to keep his belt but still go for the biggest prize in the WWE Universe? Fans didn’t have to wait long to find out, as Paul had plenty to say about what he wanted to do in Saudi Arabia.

“Ah, see, that’s the thing, Cody; facts don’t care about your feelings, and neither do I. I got some facts for you, champ: I Logan Paul, not you, am the longest-reigning champion in the WWE. I am the greatest attraction in this company. I had the greatest rookie year of all time, and I am a superstar. Isaiah, I saw it’s your Birthday. Hold up that sign, Isaiah. Congratulations: you met a Superstar, brother, and that Superstar is Logan Paul. Happy Birthday, kid, but hey, guess what? Cody Rhodes is great, he’s a Superstar too, right Cody?” Logan Paul declared.

“Yeah, you won the 2023 Royal Rumble, but what does everyone remember from that night? Logan Paul’s epic, viral, mid-air collision with Ricochet; the crash heard around the world. And yes, Cody, you won at WrestleMania, but what was everyone talking about that night? IShowSpeed and Prime. My brands, my ideas, and my moments. And look at who’s taking all of the credit… Another three years ago, Cody Rhodes and I debuted on the same night at WrestleMania and since then, I have been the rocket fuel for the spaceship that is WWE.

“So my question to you is, how can you finish the story when it’s not even your story. So what do I want to talk about, Cody? How about this: let’s talk about me, knocking you out, and pinning you on top of my logo, and walking out of Saudi Arabia as the WWE Undisputed Champion?”

Whoa, interesting stuff, right? Well wait, it gets all the more interesting, as Rhodes had plenty to say as a response and all but solidified what’s going on later this month in Saudi Arabia.

Cody Rhodes has Grand Slam aspirations against Logan Paul.

After listening to Logan Paul’s process, Cody Rhodes shot back at the Prime founder, letting him know that he’s got a very good reason to do a belt versus belt match in Saudi Arabia, as it would place him in an elite company within the WWE Universe.

“I bet a lot of people stand across from you and assume, just, what a dumba**. As fun as that would be, I’m not going to call you a podcaster, a YouTuber, an influencer, an outsider. I’m not going to pretend that this is a fad for you, I’ve actually gotten a sense of who Logan Paul really is and so have they,” Cody Rhodes announced. “You’re the guy who went toe-to-toe with Floyd Mayweather, right? Under 40 and you made the Forbes list and correct me if I’m wrong and correct me if I’m wrong your fourth or fifth match you won the United States Championship? Since we are going over facts, the fact is that if I was to win that United States Championship, that would make me a WWE Grand Slam Champion.”

Paul went to grab the mic, but Rhodes rejected his advance, letting everyone know that he still had plenty more to say on the subject.

“I am not done,” Rhodes announced. “In addition to all the positive things that I said you are, you are also disrespectful, you are also self-centered, you are delusional, you cannot go a single match without grabbing those brass knucks, and you’re out here taking credit for something that doesn’t belong to you, doesn’t belong to me; this, right here, is a team and at the Queen and King of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, you are going to find out where you stand on that team.”

And just like that, the match was set: Rhodes and Paul will wrestle at King and Queen of the Ring with both the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and the United States Championship on the line, and one of the two men will leave the ring with both belts around their waist… assuming, of course, that the match has a definitive finish. Could the match end in a no-contest? Sure. Could Rhodes beat Paul only for Paul to win back the US Title at SummerSlam in Ohio, leading to a final battle for all the marbles at a future date, be that Fastlane or Survivor Series? Needless to say, WWE has plenty of interesting options at their disposal.
