Nick Wayne seeks longevity.

After debuting at the tender age of 12, Nick Wayne is aiming to make the most of his professional wrestling career. During a recent interview with The Daly Migs Show, the rising AEW star looked back on his early start in the business, while also looking ahead at his future, which he hopes to be one of great length.

“I was kind of on my own age range when I was training, but once I started to kind of expand out of the Pacific Northwest, I would meet people that are my age or a little bit younger than me,” Wayne said. “And at the time, [seeing people] younger than me, I was like, that’s crazy. When I met these people, I was like 16, and then there’s other wrestlers that are like 13. There’s like a batch of people that are starting to do it now that are 18, 17, 16, 15. It’s a big thing in Mexico to train at a young age, starting at like eight or nine. The likes of Eddie Guerrero or Rey Mysterio. It’s a very normal thing to train at a young age. So I’m very glad I got to do the same.”

Wayne Wants Longevity

In assessing his future in wrestling, Wayne noted that one of his main goals is to achieve a sense of longevity. While the industry poses an inherent risk of physical damage, Wayne has prided himself on taking a safe approach to his in-ring work, which, in turn, will hopefully set him up for a long and successful career.

“Starting at a young age, your body is still growing and developing. And doing all this stuff in the ring, you’re damaging your body as well. So damaging it while it’s trying to grow, it’s not the best combination,” Wayne said. “But you learn how to do it in a certain way to where you could do it for the rest of your life. That’s what I’m hoping to do.”
