"The Iron Claw" starring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White will hit theaters this Christmas. Variety is reporting that the movie, which documents the tragic story of the historic Von Erich professional wrestling family will premiere on December 22.

In the movie, Zac Efron plays the role of  Kevin Von Erich and Jeremy Allen White plays Kerry Von Erich. Harris Dickinson plays David Von Erich, while Holt McCallany takes on the role of Von Erich father and storied wrestling promoter, Fritz Von Erich. Maura Tierney stars as Doris and Lily James plays White's wife Pam.

Jeremy Allen White gained 40 pounds of muscle for the role

GQ reported during an interview with White that he would attempt to gain 40 pounds for the role that White says has commonality with the character of Carmy, which he plays on the Hulu show, The Bear.

“There’s something human about never feeling like you are really your own man,” White said to GQ Magazine about playing Kerry Von Erich. “All great drama is about family, whether it’s blood or not. It’s about acceptance, it’s about belonging, and just getting away from loneliness.”

The Variety report indicates that "The Iron Claw" is currently in post-production and will not be completed in time to make the rounds at key film festivals.
