‘Timeless’ Toni Storm takes a sly shot at Cody Rhodes after AEW Dynasty

After watching her past two reigns with the Woman’s World Championship come to an end after only three successful title defenses, Toni Storm finally broke her streak at AEW Dynasty, besting fellow former champion Thunder Rosa in a rousing effort in St. Louis to go 4-0 as the champion.

So, with that monkey off her back, you’d think the AEW Woman’s World Champion would arrive at the Dynasty media scrum as a galavanting hero, right? Basking in the glory of her efforts and asking for as much praise as possible? Nope, Storm instead marched into the meeting with a planned statement and used her time to talk smack on the fans, Nikki Garcia, and most notably Cody Rhodes, even if she didn’t mention him by name.

“I know this is usually the part of the night where I come out, and I humor you with all of my one-liners so that you can monetize your YouTube, but to be honest, I’m not in the f**king mood! So I’ve prepared a statement: How long do I have to do this? Week after week, night after night, before you realize that I am the one who is transcending this business. Just because I don’t go out there and say it doesn’t mean it’s not true. Do I really have to tell you every single night? Are you that thick? Too busy chasing people blithering about Goosebumps and levels and storytelling and cinema, go see a f**king movie! Nicole Garcia thought about joining AEW when she saw what Mercedes did. Do you know why she didn’t? Because then she saw me and realized you can’t hold a p*ssy-scented candle to what I do,” Toni Storm told the AEW media in attendance.

“I am the one taking this company to new heights. And I don’t even try to. I’m just being me, and it’s the greatest thing I could ever be. And it’s the greatest thing that could happen to all of you to have every one of you who saw me all those years ago and thought she has potential. You had absolutely no idea it was going to get this good to do. Tomorrow morning your headlines should read holy f**k was I wrong? And Anthony, I promise you no matter how many matches I win, no matter how many stories I finish, I will never call you into the ring to celebrate with me. Being ‘Timeless’ means I’m not on your watch, my success is my own, and you’re d**n lucky to be a part of it.”

Complete the story? Share a moment in the ring with a booker? Talking about it every single night? Goodness, what did Rhodes do to “Timeless” Toni to garner so many strays sent his way? Regardless, if Storm’s goal was to garner a massive reaction and get fans talking, then she accomplished that goal in spades, as the Woman’s Champion has earned huge reactions after a show that featured the best 1-2-3- punch to close out the show in AEW history. All in all, a pretty successful statement if that was her intention.

Mariah May is excited to learn from Toni Storm as a member of AEW.

Speaking of Toni Storm’s AEW dominance, Mariah May recently sat down with Ring The Belle to discuss linking up with the “Timeless” Champion in AEW. While some fans weren’t initially on board with May linking up with Storm, as she was a very successful member of Club Venus in her own right, in the end, the former Goddesses Of Stardom Champion remains proud to learn under the “Timeless” learning tree as she too wants to become an AEW Champion in the future.

“It’s such a special relationship,” Mariah May told Ring The Belle via WrestleZone. “I mean, obviously, I’ve always been a big fan of Toni. In the UK, Toni was that girl. She did the whole STARDOM thing, she did the American thing, she did it all. So I’ve always looked up to her, and when I came to AEW, I was like, I can actually meet her, and I get under her wing and learn everything and dress up as her.”

May also commented on her decision to dress up as Storm, a loving cosplay that also ties into the All About Eve-ness of it all. For May, the decision was a no-brainer, as it earned her a massive pop from the crowd.

“Honestly, the crowd popped so hard. I had goosebumps, and then I realized, well, it’s not really for me,” May noted. “I was like, they’re going crazy out there, and it’s actually not for me. It’s for her [laughs].”

While it’s only a matter of time before May turns on Storm and takes her place in the AEW Universe, truly finishing the All About Eve storyline months in the making, for now, she’s excited to keep learning as an understudy, as eventually her day will come to shine.
