Developmental purge after Linda’s campaign ends:
At least 5 WWE developmental wrestlers have been released from their contracts over the past week. They include Chad Baxter, Chase Donovan, Louis Fontaine, Nick Rogers and Lincoln Broderick.
As reported a few days ago, now that Linda McMahon’s campaign for Senate is over the company are comfortable releasing groups of talent again. The feeling was that they couldn’t do a massive purge during her political run because her opponents could use it against her. Linda claimed to be a “job creator”.
While some main roster talent could also be released if there’s a backlog, the usual purge comes after Wrestlemania.
Chris Jericho nearly quit in 2000 due to lack of push:
Chris Jericho recalled a time when he nearly quit the then WWF in 2000, during a recent interview with the Inside The Ropes show. After having a strong debut there was a time when the company were not sure about giving him the top spot:
“I remember the week before I lost to Viscera on Sunday Night Heat and I was like ‘This is it’ I was pissed off,” said the Fozzy front man.
“I was ready to quit. I showed up that day and i told one of the writers ‘I’m done, this is bulls–t’ At that point I wanted to go, nobody was forcing me to quit, I just wasn’t doing anything. Brian told me “Maybe you should wait before you go talk to him” He said ‘You’re gonna win the title tonight’ I think it was a test to see what the crowd would do. I think if Vince knew how the crowd would react he might not have had me lose it later that night but it was the first test that I had that I passed with flying colours not just with Vince but with Triple H as well. It was the first time I’d had a great match in WWE. Even though I lost, I won that night. Thats what led to my last man standing match with Triple H.”
Jericho then famously went on to become the Undisputed Champion and the rest is history.
Y2J also discussed is views on websites posting spoilers, including when he last return to the company was leaked:
“I think that people feel entitled nowadays because of the internet, they think they have the right to know what’s going on even before it happens and with that picture in Nashville, I was 250 miles away so who could say I would’ve been going to RAW? I could’ve been in Nashville or Atlanta but I think it peaked the fans interest. It’s funny though because that picture of me ended up being super imposed of me like walking down abbey road with The Beatles, I was standing at the JFK assasination, the pyramids of Egypt, all these funny things of like ‘Oh Where’s Jericho?’ …….I think if you don’t wanna read spoilers then don’t go online. I think there’s a small amount of people who watch every week that read the spoilers, just like a small amount that read Billboard Magazine if you’re a musician or Variety magazine if you’re an actor. But I think the majority of people don’t really give a s–t and they just wanna watch and see how it unfolds. That’s the way I am. If i go to a movie, I don’t wanna know the ending or know the plot before I see it, I wanna watch it the way it was meant to be seen.”
Jericho is currently on hiatus from the company after he could not agree to terms on a return.

DDP discusses teaching Jake Roberts Yoga:
Speaking of DDP, the former WCW Champ discussed teaching Jake “The Snake” Roberts his DDP Yoga, during a recent interview with the Big Wrestle Shark Show on the UK’s Pulse FM:
“I bought a house in Atlanta Georgia. Basically we’re filming a REAL reality show, we don’t set up anything, we just film during the day, Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has moved in here. Jake started with us close to four months ago, we went down to Texas and filmed Jake, we wanted to have day one, we’re filming a documentary: ‘The Resurrection of Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts’. The tagline is, it’s never too late to heal yourself, to bring your body back, to bring your mind back, when you guys talk to him next week you’ll see what I’m talking about.
“Jake’s down 40lbs, when we filmed him to begin with, just standing up and going to the floor to do a push up. He couldn’t do it. He had to have a chair or a table to push himself up. Now he can.
“The whole point of the Resurrection of Jake is to go out on his terms. We say it all the time, his history is not his destiny and he knows that he messed up. He knows he dropped the ball numerous times. He knows he’s a junkie and an alcoholic, so we provide here at my house that we call the ‘accountability crib’, you’re accountable for everything! He has really come light years in a very short time, he still has a long way to go. The goal is to not have it end the way it ended, you know, on TMZ. Where he was all sh*tfaced in the ring and couldn’t do anything. The guy was one of the greatest performers of all time, he wants to go out with some dignity. So we want to get him ready for either one last tour or one last match, we’ll see how that works out. And hopefully he can retire with his head held high.”
