After 30 grueling minutes, John Cena emerged the champion from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The West Newbury, Mass., native won the WWE Championship from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Wrestlemania 29 after hitting him with his patented “attitude adjuster” finisher. Cena beat The Rock in the Wrestlemania 28 headlining match last year as well.
The match, and event as a whole, was panned by some for being too predictable. The Rock is leaving to shoot the film Hercules: The Thracian Wars in the coming weeks, so he was expected to drop the championship belt due to his busy schedule.
The Undertaker extended his Wrestlemania undefeated streak by beating CM Punk in what many considered the match of the night. The Undertaker is now 21-0 at the WWE’s biggest event of the year.
