Amir Khan has raised questions about Tyson Fury and the way he is preparing for his fight against Oleksandr Usyk for the potential rematch. He might have taken his foot off the pedal now, despite getting beaten by Usyk. Earlier this year, in May, Fury was both tactically and game-decision-wise weaker than the Ukrainian. Meanwhile, the rematch is big and set to be a highly consequential one and that is why Khan is not fully sure whether he is still matching the required practice.
Oleksandr Usyk may retire soon, but before that, he’s eager for rematches against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Fans still want him to have victory over Fury but the Englishman must be more prepared for his fight this time.
Tyson Fury’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk surprised many but the 36-year-old claims that he should have beaten the Ukrainian in their first encounter. He feels confident that he’ll win the upcoming rematch and ‘settle the score’ early next year. However, Amir Khan questions if he still has the same hunger and drive that once fueled him as a champion.
Despite this, Khan still has confidence in Fury’s ability to come back and win but he also admitted that he sometimes wonders if he is in the right state of mind. Khan also noted that money from Saudi Arabia could potentially force him into a decision. Because the purses as usual are so massive in this rematch, Khan feels that Tyson is ‘’relaxed’’.
His father, John Fury, also came to prominence before the first fight when the man endeavored to headbutt a participant of Usyk’s team before the match. This, coupled with his rigorous involvement with his son’s career, attracted much controversy from some sections, who attributed Tyson’s loss to the undue influence of John. Khan asks Fury’s father John to step down a bit and leave the trainer-related responsibilities to the professional trainers.
The worries that Amir Khan has expressed over Tyson Fury before the face-off with Usyk are both unavoidable and essential but at the same time, show that a fighter should have a mind set on the fight and have a proper support system. Tyson Fury has the expectations and pressure of the potential title run and that is where he must be careful not to lose himself in motivation. This is why Khan still believes that when Tyson Fury’s mindset is as good as his corner, the fighter can return to the pinnacle. Nevertheless, only time will show whether the “Gypsy King” can get back up and provide the spectacle which is expected from the fans.
