Ahead of his October 31 clash with WBC champion Christian Mbilli, Canelo Alvarez has named the three hardest-hitting opponents from his 68-fight career: Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev, and James Kirkland.
Golovkin gave Canelo the toughest test of the three, coming close to winning their 2017 middleweight clash before Canelo salvaged a draw and later a majority decision in the 2018 rematch. Kovalev, though past his prime by the time the two met in 2019 when Canelo won the WBO light heavyweight title, still left an impression on Canelo's power rankings. Kirkland rounds out the list, with Canelo noting his super welterweight power despite stopping him in three rounds back in 2015.
