Eddie Hearn’s recent comments about Oleksandr Usyk are sparking serious debate and for good reason. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Hearn didn’t mince words when he placed Usyk among the elite heavyweights in boxing history.

“I feel like legacy is really only established over time but now you have to start talking about him as one of the greats. Like heavyweight greats,” Hearn said of Usyk when speaking with Fight Hub TV.

“I feel like there’s very few fighters that would be able to compete over multiple generations against fighters like Mike Tyson, Ali what a fight that would be (Ali-Usyk). I mean, just two geniuses. You’d fancy him, probably, to beat Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes. You’re talking about great heavyweights. Joe Frazier, Sonny Liston, you’d back him to beat those guys and the remarkable thing is he’s not that big.”

Usyk is the best in his era

Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) has now unified the heavyweight division after already conquering cruiserweight, where he became the undisputed champion as well. He is widely considered one of the most complete boxers of this generation, combining elite technical skills with the mental fortitude of a champion.

Usyk is truly a master of skill in an era. Where heavyweights are giants, and he is constantly on the smaller side of his opponents, but with his elite skill level, he conquers them one by one.

Whether or not fans agree with Hearn’s bold take, one thing is clear. Usyk has already secured his legacy and the debates over where he ranks all-time are just heating up.
