WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was arrested Friday morning for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Davis was taken into custody early Friday in Miami Beach, Fl. over the incident that took place roughly a month ago, according to Amanda Batchelor of WPLG Local 10. Davis allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend in the back of the head and the face during a dispute over their children on the night of June 15.
The victim’s mother allegedly filmed part of the incident, which purportedly showed Davis throwing a small box at the victim.
Davis remains in custody as of Friday morning and is facing a battery charge, according to court records.

Davis has held the WBA lightweight title since 2023. He was slated to defend that title at some point this year in a rematch with Lamont Roach, but it was unclear when that would take place even before this latest incident.
The 30-year-old has a fairly extensive legal history, and this is not even his first assault case. He also faced significant consequences stemming from a hit-and-run incident in 2020.
