Jake Paul Shares Injury Update Following Anthony Joshua Knockout

What started as one of the most surreal heavyweight experiments in modern boxing ended exactly how chaos usually does: violently, loudly, and with the internet scrambling for hot takes. The fight between Jake Paul  and Anthony Joshua was wild from the opening bell, the kind of matchup that feels like it shouldn’t exist until it suddenly does — and then refuses to be boring. Paul talked, hung in there early, soaked up punishment, and somehow made it all the way to Round 6 before reality finally clocked in.

Joshua’s power ultimately told the story. After wearing Paul down across multiple rounds, the former unified heavyweight champion closed the show with a brutal sixth-round knockout that left no debate about the outcome. It was decisive, emphatic, and exactly the kind of finish critics expected — just several rounds later than most predicted.

Despite the knockout loss, Paul was remarkably upbeat in his post-fight interview. Asked how he felt afterward, he didn’t hesitate. “Yeah, I’m feeling good. That was fun. I love this sport. I gave it my all. It’s f—ing crazy. I had a blast,” Paul said, thanking fans and the global audience watching on Netflix. He openly acknowledged the result, adding, “Anthony’s a great fighter and I got my a** beat, but that’s what this sport’s about.”

Paul even revealed the extent of the damage with a grin. “I think my jaw is broken, by the way. It’s definitely broke,” he said, calling it “a nice little a** whooping from one of the best to ever do it.” Rather than frustration, he framed the loss through perspective, explaining that boxing has reshaped his mindset and given him clarity beyond wins and losses.

When the conversation turned to what’s next, Paul didn’t dodge it. “We’re going to heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight, go for the Cruiserweight world title,” he said, while also acknowledging the grind. “I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years.”

Shortly after the fight, Paul reinforced that message on social media, initially posting that his “jaw [was] broken,” while insisting his “heart and balls” were intact and vowing to recover before returning to cruiserweight.

Hours later, Paul shared a more graphic update, posting what appeared to be a medical scan of his jaw with multiple fracture points circled. Alongside the image, he wrote: “Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.” The post was clearly tongue-in-cheek, but it underscored Paul’s trademark bravado — even while dealing with legitimate injuries.

Later today, Paul provided his most serious update yet, revealing that he had undergone surgery. “Just got out of surgery. Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love,” he wrote, adding that he’s dealing with “lots of pain and stiffness” and will be restricted to liquids for the next seven days. Paul also expressed gratitude to the medical staff at Miami University Hospital, calling the team “amazing” and praising their care during his recovery.

In the end, the result won’t quiet the critics — but it also won’t slow the momentum. Paul tested himself against one of boxing’s most dangerous heavyweights, paid the price in full, and walked away already plotting the next chapter. The surgery is done. The recovery clock has started. And if history is any indication, this loss will only fuel the next move in a career that refuses to play it safe.
