Heavyweight Jarrell Miller (28-1-2, 22 KOs) and Lenier Pero (13-1, 8 KOs) put on an entertaining 12-round fight at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, NV, on DAZN, but in the end, Miller was just too much and scored a unanimous decision.

The judges saw this one 117-111 x 2 and 115-113 for Miller. After the fight, Miller called out everyone, but one name kept coming up: Deontay Wilder. That’s a big fight if they can make it next.

In the opening round, Miller was throwing his left jab while staying in position. Pero threw his right jab and also stayed in position until he began moving with his right jab around the ring. Pero landed a big left hook that made Miller tumble a bit, which was the biggest punch of the round.

Pero picked things up in the second round with left and right hooks that connected on Miller’s head. He appeared more comfortable throwing his offense as Miller was not moving his head and was taking the shots cleanly. Miller landed some big right hands too, but Pero’s aggressiveness dictated the pace of the round.

In the third round, the fight was contested in a phone booth as Miller and Pero were in tight, exchanging bombs on one another. Miller landed left and right hooks to the body, while Pero landed left uppercuts and hooks to get Miller’s attention. Miller continued his offensive onslaught in the fourth round as Pero looked gassed from all the punches landed on him. Miller continued to throw left and right hooks to Pero’s body, and you can see how much it was taking out of Pero.

The fifth round was intense as Miller and Pero went blow for blow, but it was clear that Miller was winning the exchanges. Pero just didn’t have any power behind his punches. The sixth round was more of a phone-booth-style fight, with both fighters going back and forth with their offense.

The second half of the fight was all Miller, as Pero was a game opponent but couldn’t keep up. Miller was averaging around 85 punches per round. It was a good performance for Miller, who is back in the big-fight picture in the heavyweight division.
