Essuman Stuns Taylor — Should He Retire?
PA Images/Alamy Images

Ekow Essuman upset Josh Taylor in the latter’s first fight at 147 in a unanimous decision: 116-113, 116-112, 115-113.

Taylor entered the fight with the clear plan of eventually becoming a two-weight world champion. He lost his previous two fights, coming up short against Teofimo Lopez and Jack Catterall. There were suggestions that the former Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion could not make 140, as Taylor looked much healthier at the weigh-in. Essuman’s record stood at  21-1-0, with a win over Ben Vaughan in his previous bout via a majority decision. Taylor hoped a win would set up the bigger fights, but he now faces questions over whether he should retire. Here is how the fight played out.
