Shannon Ryan and Chloe Watson meet in a crucial 10-round clash at London’s historic York Hall in the women’s super-flyweight division.

Ryan, (9-1, 1 KO), is looking to cement her place as the frontrunner for another British or Commonwealth title shot after suffering a narrow defeat to Emma Dolan last year.

Watson, (8-1, 0 KO’s), is still rebuilding her momentum following a razor-thin loss to Jasmina Zapotoczna in March, a fight many observers felt could have gone her way. With both women eager to bounce back from adversity, this one should be a cracker on Friday night.

Shannon Ryan vs Chloe Watson: Analysis

What Ryan lacks in raw punching power she makes up for with consistency and composure as well as clean footwork, sharp counters, and a strong understanding of distance.

Her lone defeat to Emma Dolan in June 2024 came via split decision, a bout where Ryan started slowly but finished strongly, hinting that experience and tempo management are still developing areas. Since then, she has bounced back with confidence, notably stopping Kate Radomska to register the first TKO win of her career.

Meanwhile, Watson fights with the kind of intensity and forward momentum that can trouble more measured opponents. Her punch output, energy, and willingness to engage make her dangerous over the long haul even without knockout power.

Watson’s loss to Zapotoczna in March was a wake-up call. Though she lost by split decision, she displayed grit and adaptability, rallying late in the fight, and she’ll need those same attributes in this one to come away with a win.

Ryan vs Watson: Prediction & Betting Tips

Ryan will aim to control range, use her jab, and dictate the pace. She’ll want to keep Watson at mid-distance, turning her and forcing her to reset. Watson, conversely, thrives when she can cut off the ring, work the body, and drag opponents into high-tempo exchanges.

Given both fighters’ low knockout ratios, Ryan with one stoppage and Watson with none, this contest is almost certain to go the distance. And over ten rounds, even small lapses in concentration could swing close rounds one way or the other.

Ryan’s technical craft should see her edge the contest, but Watson’s engine and determination will ensure it’s anything but comfortable. Due to their low knockout ratios, there isn’t much value in the markets. However, I’m still taking Shannon Ryan to win by decision or technical decision at odds of 1.73 (Bet 365) due to her superior boxing skills.
