The Michigan State basketball team recorded their first Big Ten win of the season off of another suffocating defensive effort and 22 points from Nick Ward, matching his season high, to defeat Nebraska 86-57. With the victory the Spartans improve to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten while the Cornhuskers fall to 6-3 and 0-1 in the conference. “Every Big Ten win is important,” said Miles Bridges after the game. “It was good that we got off to a good start today. It was just really good for the team.” Nick Ward was an absolute beast Sunday afternoon scoring his 22 points in 22 minutes on six of seven shooting and 10 of 13 from the free throw line. He also grabbed seven rebounds, four on the offensive end, and recorded three blocks to his stat line. He was joined in double figures by Cassius Winston who scored 16 and added seven assists and six rebounds to his night.
