Matthew McConaughey might be the most famous Texas Longhorns football fan in the nation.
McConaughey, who graduated from Texas, is often seen on the sideline during Longhorns games. And he's been known to deliver some epic speeches to the Texas football team, such as the gem he dropped before the Longhorns' season-opening win against Notre Dame in 2016.
McConaughey joined The Eli Manning Show this week and he revealed that he doesn't speak to the team very often anymore. And that's because of Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.
"I do not talk to the team as much anymore," said McConaughey. "And this is a really interesting thing. So, Sark, he wants to be the singular voice for that team. And that's exactly what he's done. He wants to be the singular voice. It's nothing against me saying anything to the team. But I like that -- that he's not looking for another outside voice. He's the head microphone, it's coming from his mouth. And right now, he's got them listening as you can see."
It's always fun to see the clips of McConaughey talking to the team, but it's hard to argue with Sarkisian's approach. Texas is 21-4 in their last 25 games. And Sarkisian has the Longhorns poised to compete for a national championship this season.
Maybe McConaughey can deliver another epic speech to Texas if the Longhorns end the season with a natty and a parade.
