According to this report from Jimmy Hyams of WNML in Knoxville, the Volunteers will hire current Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm in the same role.
Tennessee will soon announce the hiring of Purdue coach Jeff Brohm after going 6-6 this year. Brohm was 30-10 at Western Kentucky. Buyout is $5 million, drops to $4 million Dec 5. Still owes Purdue about $750k for leaving WKY.

The details of the deal makes this reported hiring seem as if its imminent at this point. Then again, the Vols had a presser scheduled this past weekend to name Schiano head coach. Look how that turned out.
Brohm has four years of college head coaching experience. His Boilermakes are currently 6-6 heading into bowl season. That came on the heels of Brohm leading Western Kentucky to a 30-10 record and three bowl wins in as many seasons.
A product of Louisville, Brohm played five seasons with the Cardinal before suiting up for six teams during a seven-year NFL career as a backup quarterback.
Prior to taking the Western Kentucky job back in 2014, the 46-year-old Brohm spent time as an assistant with Louisville, Florida Atlantic, Illinois and UAB.
He now takes over a Tennessee program that’s fallen on hard times and is coming off a disastrous 4-8 campaign. Whether Brohm can turn it around remains to be seen.
