Three schools emerge as favorites to sign Arch Manning

Arch Manning, the No. 1 ranked quarterback recruit in the 2023 class, is the hottest name in high school football right now.

Last weekend Arch, the nephew of NFL champions Peyton and Eli Manning, visited two different schools in Texas: SMU and Texas. This of course comes on the heels of him having visited Clemson two weeks ago.

So based on Arch’s schedule over the past month, what can be gleaned about his collegiate future?

According to Adam Gorney of Rivals.com – quite a bit.

“If I had to take a shot right now and say where Arch Manning ends up I would pick Clemson first, Alabama second and then Texas third,” he wrote.

“But that could definitely change over the course of the next two recruiting cycles and there’s no question the Longhorns rolled out the red carpet for Manning this past weekend and his trip and workout went well. The Mannings obviously know what they’re doing, though, and the Longhorns will need to show they can become a national power again before I see the 2023 five-star playing for them.”

Arch is obviously a unique talent, his superb genetics notwithstanding. Last season he recorded 1,922 yards, 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 146-for-219 passing while leading his school to a 9-1 record and Louisiana Division III state semifinal berth as a sophomore.

One year prior, in 2019, he amassed 2,438 yards, 34 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 194-for-296 passing while leading his school to a 9-2 record and second-round playoff appearance in Louisiana’s Division III bracket.

While Eli is obviously busy with his special new New York Giants gig, and Peyton is constantly in the news for one thing or another, both men would be wise to call a timeout and really take a hard look at how quickly their nephew is developing. The youngster is all but a lock to make it to the pros, and it’s going to be a lot of fun watching his journey there.
