ICC reprimanded Afghanistan spinners Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for breaching the Code of Conduct during their Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka. They were found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the team’s last contest in the Continental Cup. Noor breached Article 2.8, which deals with showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision.

On the other hand, Mujeeb breached Article 2.2, which is about abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, fixtures and fittings.

One demerit point was added to the accounts of the two players. Mujeeb disturbed the stumps with the towel, while Noor was not pleased with the umpire’s decision to call one of his deliveries a wide.

Both spinners admitted to their offences and accepted the sanctions imposed by match referee Richie Richardson. The formal hearing was not held. Umpires Asif Yaqoob and Virender Sharma, Faisal Afridi and Rohan Pandit levelled the charge on the two players.
