Markram taken apart for multiple sixes and the game totally slipped away from Lucknow Super Giants in the 13th over with the introduction of Aiden Markram into the attack who instead went with the flow and ended up going for multiple sixes and nearly 30 runs in an over.
Connolly got into the act right from the first ball with a clean straight hit over cover and the next ball was pulled over long on despite the connection not being ideal while the third ball was hit straight back into the sightscreen. Arya joined him by smashing a straight hit and over mid-wicket, completing the carnage for Markram to go for multiple sixes and hand Punjab a strong upper hand. The proteas conceded as many as 32 runs in that overs which included five sixes, one single and a wide.
LSG bowlers wilted early on. Shami provided an early breakthrough when he cleaned up Prabhsimran Singh for a duck, but that proved to be the only respite for LSG.
Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni were all tonked as Arya and Connolly continued to hit out every over. Not even the part-timers such as Markram and Siddharth were able to escape the wrath.
Punjab Kings would easily make 250+ at 179-1 in 13 overs, following on from their strong showing so far in IPL 2026.
