Luke Littler already closing in on one of Michael van Gerwen's European Tour records

Luke Littler’s rapid rise in professional darts continued in Antwerp, where the 18-year-old clinched the Flanders Darts Trophy with an 8-7 win over Josh Rock. It was Littler’s second European Tour title of 2025 and the fourth of his career — but it was his scoring power across the weekend that again drew the sharpest comparisons with Michael van Gerwen.

Littler averaged more than 100 in three of his five matches in Antwerp, including a blistering 110.33 in his third-round victory over Ryan Searle. That effort moved him into joint third place on the all-time European Tour list for 110+ averages, level with Dave Chisnall on six.

What makes that achievement remarkable is the speed of it. Littler has needed only 39 European Tour matches to reach that tally; Chisnall, by contrast, has required 284.

Van Gerwen continues to dominate the list with 19 110+ averages from 404 matches, with Gerwyn Price second on seven from 284 appearances. Littler’s strike rate therefore already outpaces anyone in the sport’s history — and at just 18 years of age, it places him firmly on course to reel in Van Gerwen’s total.

Belgian comfort

Antwerp’s triumph was the latest example of Littler’s comfort on Belgian stages. Earlier this season he claimed the Belgian Darts Open in Wieze, having also lifted the same trophy in 2024 for his maiden European Tour success.

The final itself showcased both Littler’s resilience and Rock’s growing maturity. Rock punished Littler’s early misses to lead 5-2, only for the World Champion to hit back with four straight legs and seize the initiative. Even when Rock produced a sensational 161 finish on the bull to force a decider, Littler closed with an 11-darter on double 18 to lift the title against the throw.

Eyes on Prague

The European Tour resumes next weekend at the Czech Darts Open, where Luke Humphries defends the title he won in 2024. Littler’s form will again be a major talking point, not only because of his winning habit but also because of the historic pace he is setting in the averages column.

Van Gerwen’s tally of 19 110+ averages once seemed untouchable. Littler, however, is already more than a third of the way there, and he has done it in fewer than 40 matches. If he carries on for much longer at this rate, it may be a question of when, not if, he surpasses the mighty Dutchman’s mark.
