During 2020, things got…interesting. Everyone was looking for something to do, and the hip-hop and R&B communities really stood out with Verzuz via Instagram. For those unaware, two artists would play their music head-to-head while talking to one another every week. The back-and-forth was so electric that, soon enough, Verzuz was in-person and, for a time, live. While it centered around hip-hop, R&B, and soul music, many fans worldwide have wondered what it’d be like if artists from other genres took part. With that, let’s look at some of the dream Verzuz battles everyone would log on for.

When it comes to singers that started as child stars who clearly had the vocal chops of someone who’d been doing it for three times as long, Christina Aguilera and Ariana Grande are just that. It’d also be interesting to hear them swap tales of being on Disney and Nickelodeon before breaking out and being two of the most respected vocalists and well-known names in pop music.

Usher and Bruno Mars aren’t just hitmakers, but they’re also incredible performers. Given the chance, this is a battle fans would need to see done live.

Like Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears knows all too well what it’s like to be a star early on in life and when people want to toss your name in every horrible headline imaginable. This wouldn’t just be a great face-off musically but also spiritually, as these two have a lot they could connect on.

Garth Brooks helped country music move into the mainstream, and after him came a plethora of artists who would straddle that like a cowboy herding cattle, including Shania Twain. So this match-up is a no-brainer.

Gwen Stefani and Hayley Williams have fronted two of the most revered and notable bands ever. With No Doubt owning the airwaves well into the ‘00s and Paramore starting in small clubs as an emo darling and eventually evolving into a mainstream powerhouse, it would be more than interesting to hear “Don’t Speak” go up against the likes of “Misery Business” as they discussed band life, their solo work, and what it’s like to work with artists who sit outside the rock realm.

Not just because they share the same first name but also because they came up in the pages of Tiger Beat, singing some of the most addicting pop songs known to tweens and teens worldwide in the ‘90s and ‘00s.

It’s a pretty even playing field right out of the gate for these two, as they are male country singers who have also judged reality singing competition shows.

The only reason to pair these two in a Verzuz situation would be so that they could spark up a friendship and then turn out the best duet ever.

The world wants them to be pop, but these want to do nothing but rock, and fans would likely want to hear about how they were treated in the music industry because of that, all while hearing “Complicated” and “Heart Attack” within the same hour.

Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar represent the cream of the crop in West Coast rap, and a conversation between old and new school would be as enthralling as the music they’ve made.

Alongside some pretty intriguing insight into how women are treated in the music industry, Alanis and Taylor could break down how love, life, and the pursuit of artistry have shaped them into the icons they are today.

These two leaders of country music do more than perform their behinds off; they also use their platforms to spread love and awareness in the world. These two coming together to talk music would be ideal because they’d use it to raise money for several charities they’re involved with.

Fall Out Boy walked on the lonely road Green Day paved to help the emo generation rise. So these two bands going back and forth would be like reliving the glory days of Warped Tour all over again.
