A Zombie Grabber Haunts Us in the BLACK PHONE 2 Trailer
Ethan Hawke Grabber in Black Phone 2 trailer Universal Pictures

Just when we thought the Grabber was gone for good. He and his terrifying mask are back. He’s dead in our world, but that doesn’t mean his power is gone. In Black Phone 2, it looks like he’s an attack from a whole other realm of existence, the supernatural one that seems to house the dead in some capacity. It’s not clear from the trailer yet if that marks those who don’t dally in that realm safe from being grabbed. But it certainly leaves Finn’s little sister, Gwen, susceptible, as we know she’s eerily connected to the arcane powers that exist in The Black Phone‘s world. One way or another, the tagline of Black Phone 2 appears to be. What happens if you die in your sleep? Uh and oh. You can watch the full  Black Phone 2 trailer below.

Literally and metaphorically, we have the chills after watching this Black Phone 2 trailer. It’s taking us to a whole new icy location, but that’s not really what has shivers running up and down our spine. No, it’s seeing Ethan Hawke’s Grabber return in an even scarier, disintegrating kind of form… Basically, we’re dealing with the zombie version of The Grabber, and we don’t like it at all. Also, hearing Ethan Hawke’s voice once again hit that terrifying register and cadence in Black Phone 2’s trailer, truly welcomes the menace into the room with us.

The Black Phone 2 offers quite a hefty synopsis of what we can expect from this sequel movie. But all of those words do not begin to do justice to the fear Black Phone 2‘s trailer creates—so we suggest you definitely give it a watch. (Or two, if you’re brave enough.)

Here’s what The Black Phone 2‘s synopsis lets us know:

Four years ago, 13-year-old Finn killed his abductor and escaped, becoming the sole survivor of The Grabber. But true evil transcends death … and the phone is ringing again.

Four-time Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke returns to the most sinister role of his career as The Grabber seeks vengeance on Finn (Mason Thames) from beyond the grave by menacing Finn’s younger sister, Gwen (Madeleine McGraw).

As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.

Determined to solve the mystery and end the torment for both her and her brother, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm. There, she uncovers a shattering intersection between The Grabber and her own family’s history. Together, she and Finn must confront a killer who has grown more powerful in death and more significant to them than either could imagine.

An intersection between The Grabber and Finn’s family? We don’t like that. And we like The Grabber becoming even more powerful in death even less. We get a feeling the perils in Black Phone 2‘s trailer are just the beginning. We are terrified (but excited) to find out more when Black Phone 2 releases on October 17.
