Gal Gadot is reportedly set to play Evil Queen in Disney's live-action 'Snow White' remake

Gal Gadot plays the world's most-wanted art thief in Netflix's Red Notice, out this month, but she somehow managed to take evil up yet another notch in her reported next role.

According to Deadline's Justin Kroll, "Gadot is in final negotiations to play the Evil Queen in Disney's live-action adaptation of Snow White, the one that started it all for the studio’s legendary slate of animated features. Rachel Zegler is set to play the titular character, with Marc Webb directing and Marc Platt producing. Production is expected to start in 2022."

Zegler was first attached to play Snow White in June.

Premiering in 1998, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was based upon a Brothers Grimm fairytale and served as Disney's first-ever animated feature—to an overwhelmingly warm reception, via History:

"Walt Disney’s decision to make Snow White, which was the first animated feature to be produced in English and in Technicolor, flew in the face of the popular wisdom at the time. Naysayers, including his wife Lillian, warned him that audiences, especially adults, wouldn’t sit through a feature-length cartoon fantasy about dwarfs. But Disney put his future on the line, borrowing most of the $1.5 million that he used to make the film. Snow White premiered in Hollywood on December 21, 1937, earning a standing ovation from the star-studded crowd. When it was released to the public the following February, the film quickly grossed $8 million, a staggering sum during the Great Depression and the most made by any film up to that time."

As for Gadot, Kroll added: "While casting for Snow White was long and thorough, studio execs always had their eye on Gadot for the role that started it all when it comes to classic Disney villains. Gadot was also intrigued at the opportunity of joining stars like Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett, who previously played iconic villains from the Disney vault. After scheduling was worked out, a deal closed this week."

Wonder Woman 3 was confirmed to be in the works last month. The 36-year-old actress has portrayed the titular superhero since 2016
