Zayn pleads no contest on harassment charges stemming from reported argument with Yolanda Hadid

Zayn Malik has been generating headlines at warp speed over the last 24 hours for all the wrong reasons.

The latest from TMZ is that the 28-year-old singer "was charged with four criminal offenses of harassment" and pleaded "no contest."

People also obtained court documents and similarly reported that Zayn "has pleaded no contest to multiple charges of harassment against both his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid and her mother Yolanda following a volatile September argument at their Pennsylvania home." Specifically, the documents describe that Zayn "grabbed [Yolanda] and shoved her into a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical pain."

TMZ was the first to report that Yolanda Hadid claimed Zayn "struck her last week." This caused Zayn to seemingly address the matter on Twitter.

"I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private," the former One Direction star told TMZ separately.

Gigi Hadid shares 13-month-old Khai with Zayn, her on-and-off boyfriend since late 2015. The 26-year-old supermodel provided a statement through a representative to E! News, simply saying she "is solely focused on the best for Khai" and "asks for privacy during this time."

People exclusively reported that Gigi and Zayn have broken up over the incident.

"They are not together right now," an unnamed source labeled "a Hadid family friend" told the outlet. "They are both good parents though. They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."

TMZ separately relayed that the split happened "about a month ago."
