“I wanna go fast / I wanna go hard / I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are”. These seductive lyrics are just a mere sample of an exhilarating feeling that we have all felt before. Badly wanting to be with that special someone and being unable to, is an unspeakable pain.  However, sometimes that pain feels good. Despite how strange it seems, Demi Lovato knows this sentiment all too well, as expressed in her dance-pop new single, “Fast”.

Produced by famed producer Zhone, the upbeat track is the first glimpse of Lovato’s highly anticipated ninth studio album, which showcases an energetic and vibrant sound. The Daniel Sachon directed music video captures a confident, and renewed Lovato, stepping into the spotlight with bold control and assurance. The song’s alluring lyrics showcase Lovato conveying a sense of urgency and longing, as she sings about wanting to feel close to her lover. She melodically emphasizes the divine intensity of her emotions, and the desire to be with this person no matter the distance. Ultimately, the song’s theme revolves around the idea of moving quickly and passionately through a relationship.

Demi Lovato’s “Fast” is a melodic way to end the summer

With it’s pulsating, uplifting, techno influenced vibe, “Fast” is sure to scurry up the charts pretty soon.  The rising hit  marks Lovato’s pop return, and first dance song in years. Because of her multitude of previous dance-pop hits, fans will be sure to welcome this returning sound with open arms. Showcasing a departure from the rock influences of her previous albums Holy Fvck (2022) and Revamped (2023), Lovato has boldly proven that she is most definitely capable of tackling any genre with ease.  “Fast” is available on multiple platforms now.
