The Super Bowl halftime show has featured some of the biggest artists and bands of all time. Beyonce, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Usher are among the artists to take part in recent iterations, and anticipation is growing for next year's performer.
No decision has been made on who will take the stage next year in Santa Clara, but one of the most popular artists recently addressed the matter.
During an appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Ed Sheeran admitted that he doesn't think his music and demeanor lends itself to the spectacle of the Super Bowl.
“I’ve had this conversation before, I don’t think English artists are— there are some that have the pizazz… but me going up there and being like, ‘Here’s the The A Team, and here’s Perfect.’ I can’t picture myself doing it," Sheeran said on the podcast.
Ed Sheeran says he wouldn’t be a good fit for a Super Bowl halftime show:

"I would definitely go on and do it with someone, just to do the Super Bowl, but I don’t think my set lends itself to that.. You’ve gotta do what suits you.”
Sheeran may not believe he has enough "pizazz" to perform at the Super Bowl, but his resume as a performer and artist speaks for itself. He's a four-time Grammy winner, and has won over 150 awards around the world during his career.
Sheeran has also sold millions of records, and has been one of the most profitable touring musicians of all time. His $1.44 billion in concert revenue puts him on par wit artists like Taylor Swift, the Rolling Stones and Metallica.
Sheeran may not be open to headlining a Super Bowl halftime show, but he's collaborated with several other top artists who have already participated - the English singer has songs with Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Eminem.
We'll see if more of Sheeran's collaborators - like Taylor Swift - take the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl. If they participate, it's likely that fans could see Sheeran take the stage to support them.
The halftime performer for Super Bowl 60 in Santa Clara, CA is likely to be announced at the start of the 2025 NFL season.
