Green Lantern HBO Series Casts Aaron Pierre

Aaron Pierre has officially joined the cast of Lanterns.

The actor recently gained plaudits for his powerful role in Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge. He’s set to star as John Stewart in the series, according to Variety

Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, Stewart’s mentor in an intergalactic peacekeeping corps. Together, the two set off to investigate a grisly murder in the American heartland. Lanterns will run for eight episodes on HBO.

DC co-CEO James Gunn commented on the casting, expressing his delight at landing Pierre. You can read his tweet below.

Pierre’s other credits include M. Night Shyamalan movie Old. He is also set to play Mufasa in Jenkins’ upcoming “Lion King” prequel film for Disney.
