CEO of HBO, Casey Bloys, has divulged some updates about highly anticipated series from the network to Deadline in an interview following this year's Emmy ceremony.
Recently, every new series coming to HBO and Max in 2024 and 2025 was released in a short video, teasing the return of fan-favorite series The Last of Us and The White Lotus, which were not given precise release dates in the video.
Bloys has now said that we can expect both in "generally first half of the year", meaning 2025, which falls into the Emmy window and would make them eligible to compete at next year's ceremony.
The CEO also said he's had a sneak peek at The Last of Us and feels "everybody is going to love what Craig [Mazin] is doing," and as for The White Lotus, he hasn't seen anything yet, but he visited the set and has "high hopes for both" The White Lotus and The Last of Us.
Another key question was put to Bloys: When might Euphoria return?
"I don't know the exact date," Bloys said, "but I will tell you that we've been working with Sam [Levinson]. I've been very pleased with the scripts that we're getting. Our plan was to shoot starting in mid-January, and that's still on track."
Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer were confirmed to return for season three in June when Bloys revealed "the same core cast" would return.
Bloys also said that Levinson was looking at taking the series out of high school, but whether that will be the case is to be confirmed.
