Henry Cavill has been cast in Voltron, a live-action movie based on a popular Japanese sci-fi series.
According to THR , The Superman and Witcher actor joins newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who’s starred in a West End production of Romeo and Juliet alongside alongside another superhero in Tom Holland, aka Spider-Man.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, Voltron is inspired by mecha anime Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which ran in the mid-1980s.
It followed five young pilots in a battalion named the Robot Lions. The premise is that each of their vehicles can join together to form one big robot called Voltron, who comes with some serious firepower.
That’s not all for Cavill, however. He’s got other projects lined up, including Guy Ritchie-directed action thriller In the Grey, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal. Cavill is following that up with a starring role in a reboot of Highlander, which shoots next year.
