Dolly Parton, the legendary country music icon, announced the development of a new Broadway musical based on her life, titled "Hello, I’m Dolly - An Original Musical." Set to premiere in 2026, the show will feature music and lyrics written by Parton herself. This announcement was made during the CMA Fest in Nashville, where Parton expressed her excitement about bringing her life story to the stage.
The musical's title, "Hello, I’m Dolly," pays homage to Parton's debut studio album released in 1967. The show promises a blend of her classic hits and new compositions, crafted specifically for this production. Parton is collaborating with ATG Productions and her longtime manager Danny Nozell to bring this project to fruition. Adam Speers of ATG Productions, who previously worked with Parton on the 2019 West End version of her musical "9 to 5," will also produce the show.
Parton, now 78, continues to achieve new milestones in her career. Last year, she earned three additional Guinness World Records, including the longest span of No.1 hits on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart for a female artist. She also released her first rock 'n' roll album, "Rockstar," featuring nine original tracks, and a book, "Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones," focusing on her iconic fashion.
Fans can expect an emotional and entertaining experience from Parton's new endeavor. Parton told her fans via social media, “Hello, I’m Dolly, and I lived my whole life to see this show on stage. I’ve written many original songs for the show and included all your favorites in it as well. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll clap, you’ll stomp, it truly is a Grand Ol’ Opera. Pun and fun intended. Don’t miss it!”
