DC Universe is working swiftly under the supervision of James Gunn and Peter Safran. With new movie projects coming in, there’s an update on the fan-favorite ‘Green Lantern’ franchise. Adding to it, the famous character Hal Jordan from the series has found its real superhero representation.
Kyle Chandler closed the deal to play the role of Hal Jordan after Josh Brolin who was in the talks for the role but passed on the offer. Here’s all we know about it.
Kyle Chandler has landed the lead role in the upcoming superhero drama ‘Green Lantern‘ after Josh Brolin turned down the role, as reported by EW. Representatives from HBO have however declined to comment on the information.
Chandler will be playing the role of Hal Jordan, who was a test pilot and became the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps armed with powerful rings that are fueled by willpower. In DC Comics, Lanterns can create virtually anything they can imagine. They are therefore capable of physically constructing anything from force fields to power blasts to armor and more.
The eight-episode series is going to be a part of Gunn and Safran’s DC universe and the mystery at its center plays into the larger arc for DCU’s first phase which is titled ‘Gods and Monsters’.
“John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with Superman,” Gunn and Safran previously said in a joint statement.
‘Gods And Monsters’ begins this year with the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ series in December. Before Chandler’s Hal, the audience will meet a different Lantern. Nathan Fillion plays Guy Gardner, another human Lantern from planet Earth in next year’s Superman directed and written by Gunn, set for release in theatres on July 11, 2025.
