Netflix is giving fans a first look at Jason Bateman and Jude Law in Black Rabbit, which they both executive produced alongside creators Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. The rest of the cast includes Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Dagmara Dominczyk, Chris Coy, Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Odessa Young, Robin De Jesus, Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, Gus Birney, John Ales, and Steve Witting.
When the owner of the hottest restaurant in New York allows his troubled brother to return to the family business, he opens the door to old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they’ve built.
"It’s a very interesting world," Law expressed to Tudum. "At the heart, I hope [audiences] are hooked by the complicated, loving, volatile relationship of these two brothers."
Bateman added, "It’s really about these brothers who love each other but don’t match — one’s a screw-up, and the other is much more buttoned up. Everybody can relate to that. Everybody’s either got a sibling, or a friendship where you love being with one another, but it’s kind of dangerous; where that person usually gets you in trouble, but they’re really exciting to be around."
Additional executive producers include Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films, Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment; Bryan Kavanaugh Jones from Automatik, Andrew Hinderaker, Zach Fognowski, Justin Levy, Dave Bernon, and Erica Kay.
The new limited series will serve as a behind-the-scenes reunion for Bateman and his Ozark co-star, Laura Linney, who directs the third and fourth episodes. Ben Semanoff, who directed the Netflix series, will also be part of the reunion to direct episodes 5 and 6. Bateman directs the first two, while Justin Kurzel directs the final two.
Meanwhile, Kurzel worked with Law and Baylin on The Order.
Black Rabbit will premiere on September 18.
