Whether you love Taylor Swift or not, she's had a big impact on her many fans throughout the world. One of those fans is actually an MLB prospect, who has gone so far as to credit her with him successfully learning English.
In a recent interview with MLB.com, Detroit Tigers prospect Roberto Campos spoke glowingly of Swift for helping him learn English. He explained that listening to her music was one of several tools he used after leaving his native Cuba. Campos also watched action movies with subtitles on, spoke at length with his roommate and listened carefully to Swift's lyrics to get a better grasp of English.
Ultimately, he feels that he's more relaxed using the language than he was in his first year and it shows. After needing a translator extensively, he now doesn't need one nearly as often to get his points across to the media.
“My first year, I wasn’t able to speak English. That was so hard for me,” Campos said. “My second year was more relaxed because I can be fluent in English.”
“Thanks, Taylor Swift,” he said. “She’s incredible.”

The 21-year-old outfielder has been working hard to improve. He's on the cusp of making the team but still has some work to do.
Over the past four seasons in the minors he has a .259 batting average, 338 hits, 28 home runs, 78 doubles and a .733 OPS in 357 games.
Four years of baseball is a lot of time to be listening to Taylor Swift music and studying the lyrics.
“It’s a good lesson for all of us on patience,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. “The acclimation process is not just about learning about baseball. He’s had to learn about living in a different country, a different language and interacting with a lot of different people. It only feels like it’s taken a long time [for Campos to emerge] because of our lack of patience as an industry, not anything that he has or hasn’t done.”
We wish Campos all the best as he continues to learn the language and prepare for his MLB debut.
