NASCAR's William Byron was feeling himself after his Daytona 500 win and he wasn't afraid shoot his shot at Grammy-winning pop star Sabrina Carpenter in the process.
"Maybe we can get her out to a race or something, that would be great," the 27-year-old driver said in an interview with TMZ earlier this week. "Or I can get to a show. That would be fun."
Speaking to the media ahead of the Ambetter Health 400 though, Byron admitted he hasn't heard back from the "Espresso" singer.
"No, it was cool to have a little bit of fun with that and we'll see what happens," he laughed. "That question's for TMZ."
This all started when a parody account photoshopped the two-time Daytona champion's name leaving a comment underneath one of Carpenter's Instagram posts — which left him answering to it when he spoke with the Hollywood outlet.
In addition, Byron was asked if he had a message for the 25-year-old hitmaker and he smiled: "I don't know, her music's pretty good."
Byron's Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman also joined in on the fun ahead of Sunday's race. Saying that he would love to see the Cup Series driver get connected with Sabrina.
"Good for him, man," Bowman told CBS Sports. "He's a baby-faced assassin. If he makes that happen, he's just winning at life. So, proud of him for sure."
When Bowman learned that Byron had said "we'll see what happens," the driver joked: "I think that means it's going down in the DMs. You never know."
For now Byron is looking to make his start to the season even better with another victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. And who knows... maybe that'll catch Carpenter's attention.
