Rufi Thorpe's new novel, Margo's Got Money Troubles, has received a straight-to-series order from Apple before it has even hit the shelves.

The new drama series from David E. Kelly will star Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman and follows the child of a Hooter's waitress and an ex-Pro-Wrestler who gets pregnant from her college professor and finds herself getting creative in her attempt to make money to provide for the baby.

Fanning will star as Margo and also exec produce the project alongside her sister, Dakota Fanning, Nicole Kidman and David E. Kelly, who serves as showrunner.

Multiple production companies wanted the rights to the book, but A24 won out, and now Apple has won the bidding war that'll send it to series.

A24 is responsible for hit TV series, including Euphoria and Beef, as well as Oscar-winning films like last year's Best Picture champ, Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Apple has had their fair share of success with series, too, including The Morning Show, Shrinking, and most recently Masters of the Air. They also became the first streaming service to secure a Best Picture win at the Oscars with CODA in 2022.

Thorpe's Margo's Got Money Troubles hits shelves in June 2024, but the series release date is yet to be announced.

The Hollywood Reporter first shared the news.
