New Live-Action HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Teaser Fills the Sky With Dragons
New Live-Action HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Teaser Fills the Sky With Dragons_1 Universal Pictures

The first trailer from Universal Pictures’ live-action How To Train Your Dragon showed off a Toothless that looked exactly like his animated counterpart. However, in the latest teaser for the film… no, Toothless still looks just like his cartoon version. But he’s not the only dragon in this promo, and the rest of his flying brethren look like dragons come to life.

This new How to Train Your Dragon teaser trailer, titled “Warrior,” is once again heavy on Toothless and Hiccup. It also features the Vikings of Berk and their quest to defeat the fire-breathing monsters of their land. But this brief promo also provides some exciting footage that makes a compelling case for why this movie deserved a live-action remake. That includes a brief shot where a flock of colorful dragons fly towards the screen, as well as a sequence where we see dragons burning a fleet of Viking ships.

If you’ve seen the original animated trilogy you know what’s going on here. (You also know the franchise features one of the best movie scores ever recorded!) But if you’re new to the franchise here’s the film’s official synopsis from Universal Pictures:

On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast, Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society. With the fierce and ambitious Astrid and the village’s quirky blacksmith Gobber by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding.

As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.

The live-action How to Train Your Dragon  comes from the same writer-director behind the animated trilogy, Dean DeBlois. It stars Mason Thames, Gerard Butler (reprising his previous voice role), Nico Parker, and Nick Frost. It also features Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur.

The movie, with it’s cartoon-like Toothless and realistic looking dragons alike, soars into theaters on June 13.

All signs point to Yankees moving on from Anthony Volpe

With the trade for Ryan McMahon now complete, it would seem New York Yankees’ general manager Brian Cashman has fulfilled one of his three priorities. He can now cross third base off the list, which leaves the rotation and bullpen as his remaining priorities. However, according to one Yankees writer, Cashman might not be done with the infield. Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported this after the McMahon trade: “The Yankees may not be done adding to their infield. A team source said the Yankees are interested in adding a right-handed hitter who could play the infield.” Kirschner adds that the Yankees have had interest in Willi Castro and Amed Rosario. But the question now is, how would another player fit into the Yankees’ infield? Needless to say, Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. aren’t going anywhere, and McMahon is just getting there. That leaves the low-hanging fruit. Anthony Volpe has been at the center of controversy all this season. His 13 errors, many of which had come at make-or-break moments, amount to the second-highest total in the game. In addition, his bat has not been able to compensate, hitting .214/.286/.407 with 14 home runs. There was always a lot to like about Volpe. He won a Gold Glove in his rookie year, his power has always been promising and his speed is nothing to scoff at. Unfortunately, his glove has become a liability, and his speed has also produced very few results. Volpe has swiped just 10 bags in 17 attempts. His power is the one thing that still has some upside, but it hasn’t been enough to justify a spot in the lineup. Both Castro and Rosario have been far more productive at the plate this season than Volpe. Kirschner doesn’t clarify how serious the Yankees are in their pursuit of another infielder, but that most likely isn’t available information. Having just turned 24, Volpe could still become the type of player that was expected from him as a top prospect. However, his recent performance has weighed heavily on his team’s efforts, and it may be buying him a ticket out of the Bronx — or at least a spot on the bench.

Celtics Rumors: Damian Lillard, Neemias Queta, Ben Simmons

Damian Lillard was briefly linked to the Celtics after being waived and stretched by the Bucks, but that possibility came and went quicker than a Jrue Holiday text. Turns out Holiday did shoot his shot. “As soon as I was waived … he sent me the eyeball emoji,” Lillard said at his introductory presser in Portland. “I already knew where I was pivoting to when he sent it, but I didn’t want to say nothing too soon, so here we are.” “Here” is back in a Trail Blazers uniform. And while Lillard isn’t expected to play this season as he recovers from a torn Achilles, the idea of him as a long-term Jayson Tatum insurance policy briefly crossed Boston’s radar. That was about as far as it got. As MassLive’s Brian Robb wrote, the Celtics never had the financial path to compete with Portland’s three-year, $42 million offer. Boston only has the $5.7M taxpayer MLE to work with — and using that might’ve meant shedding some other salary just to stay under the second apron. Who’s starting at center? In a new mailbag, Robb projects Neemias Queta as the likely starting center if the roster stays put. That would give Boston a lineup of Queta, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White, with the last two spots up for grabs. Payton Pritchard vs. Anfernee Simons at point guard? Sam Hauser vs. Georges Niang at forward? Maybe Josh Minott sneaks into the mix? Yeah, it’s July. But hey, the debates have begun. No Davison, slim Simmons ddds Boston officially parted ways with JD Davison this week, ending a three-year run with the former second-round pick. According to Robb, the team just didn’t see NBA-level growth. And what about that open roster spot? Ben Simmons is out there. But Robb pegs the odds of Simmons landing in Boston at just 10-20 percent, mainly because he’s expected to get better money (and probably a bigger role) elsewhere. More NBA News Rumors

White Sox asking Mets for promising slugger in potential Luis Robert trade

The New York Mets appear to be clicking again, entering Sunday night's game with the San Francisco Giants on a six-game winning streak. This hot stretch has raised the stakes for David Stearns and company ahead of this week's trade deadline; Stearns has already filled one need, landing lefty reliever Gregory Soto from Baltimore, and could be looking to make a few more moves prior to Thursday. One of the more prominent rumors surrounding the Mets is their interest in Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr., who is having a down year but was an All-Star as recently as 2023. Robert is hitting well right now and has a market, which has led the White Sox to demand a high price from the Mets in trade talks for him. USA Today's Bob Nightengale addressed the Robert trade talks in his Sunday column and mentioned that the White Sox are seeking to acquire Mark Vientos from the Mets in any version of a Robert trade. Vientos, who got off to a cold start to the season, has hit well over the past two weeks, batting .290 with a .732 OPS in 31 at-bats. Robert has also peaked in the month of July, hitting .351 with two home runs, nine RBI, and a .982 OPS in 37 at-bats. While this is admittedly a small sample size, it does offer hope to prospective buyers that Robert can recapture some of his All-Star form with a change of scenery away from the hopeless losing that has consumed the White Sox since the start of the 2024 campaign. Since there are so few center fielders available on the trade market, Chicago has multiple suitors for Robert, who also has two team options for the next two seasons and is still just 27 years old. Setting the Mets' asking price at Vientos indicates the White Sox aren't planning to settle for just minor leaguers as part of a Robert package, which could be richer than what the Mets want to pay right now. While the Mets have the potential to move one of their surplus infielders for a roster upgrade, it doesn't feel like Stearns would want to give up on Vientos, who was one of the team's most dominant hitters in the postseason a year ago, for potentially two months of Robert. Vientos may be best suited to be a designated hitter on the current roster, but he has elite power potential and is under team control through the 2029 season. If the White Sox don't lower the price off of Vientos for a trade, it is possible the Mets look elsewhere to address center field. Other trade options could include Baltimore's Cedric Mullins and a reunion with Harrison Bader, who the Twins will look to shop, while Drew Gilbert's hot July at Triple-A Syracuse offers another internal possibility for the position.

Steelers Rookie Will Howard Reveals 1 Problem He Has With Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers' brass is hoping that the whole team can learn a thing or two from new quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the 2025 season. Some players have already been raving about the wealth of knowledge that he has been giving to his teammates during the little bit of time that he has been at the facilities for. The idea is that even though he is a bridge quarterback, his mentorship can lead to Pittsburgh reaching the next level under him and for a few years afterwards as well. Will Howard has been the most vocal with praising Rodgers. However, he told Brian Batko of one particular issue he has with him and the main "downside" with being on a team with him. "Howard admitted there’s a downside to it, however," Batko wrote. "Sometimes, he just has to look away when Rodgers makes a certain throw because it reminds him that his arm talent isn’t quite at that level." There is a big difference between the two players. Rodgers has won four MVPs and a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Howard was a sixth-round pick after just one notable season in college football, even though he won the National Championship. There is a lot for the rookie to learn from the 41-year-old, and that includes watching him make big-league throws that he has yet to even try. Batko explained exactly the kind of throws that Rodgers has been making that has humbled Howard in training camp so far. "There was one moment Friday when Rodgers subtly lowered his arm angle to avoid a leaping Keeanu Benton — trying to get his hands up for a batted pass — and fit the ball into a window to rookie running back Kaleb Johnson over the middle," Batko noted. "Rodgers also had one of his classic off-the-back-foot tosses to Darnell Washington after a play-fake." There is not much that Rodgers has not seen or done in his career. The Steelers are hoping he can take some of that experience and utilize it with whatever he has left in the tank for the 2025 season, even if it means reminding Howard that he has a long way to go in development. Being a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL is a struggle in the first place, let alone being a perennial MVP. Steelers Are Looking For Howard To Learn And Develop Quicker Thanks To Rodgers Of course, Howard didn't mean those comments to be rude or obnoxious. He is still praising his mentor for the different kind of passes that he can still make. He never had to drop his arm angle to get by the defender with a sidearm throw, but now he can learn to do add that to his repertoire and use that to try and win a starting job somewhere later on in his career. Howard has already been impressing the fans at training camp, as he has quickly become a fan favorite. He appears to be a lock to make the 53-man roster, even if he would be kept as the third-string emergency quarterback. He will have the whole season to watch, learn, develop, and pick Rodgers' brain. Knowing him, he could even keep asking the veteran questions after he leaves the team. Depending on where the Steelers draft in 2026, Howard could have a realistic chance at winning the starting job that year. Everyone knows that they want a franchise quarterback in the first round, but depending on where they fall in the draft compared to other passer-needy teams, they could end up passing on that position for another year. That would give the 2025 sixth-round pick a chance to prove himself to his peers and his coaches.
