At San Diego Comic-Con, Lionsgate debuted a new trailer in Hall H for Francis Lawrence's The Long Walk, based on the novel by Stephen King. The panel included a discussion with cast members David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Mark Hamill, producer Roy Lee, and screenwriter JT Mollner.
From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films, comes THE LONG WALK, an intense, chilling, and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go?
“We so wanted to make sure we had the beauty and love in the story of friendship — and also the brutality, hopelessness and terror,” Mollner expressed.
"If this book got into the wrong hands, the wrong studio, it could have been neutered. We kept the teeth," he continued to add. "It definitely has bite. It needs to. It wouldn’t work if we didn’t go all the way. It is an unrelenting and brave film."
"We shot this movie chronologically," Lawrence shared in a video. "So as everybody got together and met for the first time [in the movie], you as actors were meeting for the first time and becoming friends, and then going on this experience together. The physicality of this job of walking sometimes 30,000 steps a day doing these very, very long takes, I think created a bond."
On Instagram, Wareing posted the new trailer and wrote, "I’m immensely proud of our film and I cannot wait for you all to see! What an honor. Stebbins forever."
The rest of the cast includes Cooper Hoffman, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Roman Griffin Davis, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, Josh Hamilton, and Judy Greer. The film will be released in theaters on September 12.
