'South Park: Post Covid' gets exclusive Paramount Plus premiere on Thanksgiving

The new era of South Park will begin on Thanksgiving.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first of 14 "made-for-TV films" from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone titled South Park: Post Covid is set to begin streaming exclusively on Paramount Plus on Nov. 25, before a second made-for-TV movie lands in December and South Park returns with a new season in 2022.

"It’s the boys dealing with a post-COVID world," Parker told the publication. "They’re just trying to get back to normal. So, it is like our show. We’re just trying to get back to normal."

Parker and Stone inked a massive deal with Viacom CBS' MTV Entertainment Studios in August that will reportedly earn them more than $900 million over six years, producing 14 made-for-TV movies for Paramount Plus and extending South Park through what will be its 30th season in 2027.

Stone explained to THR what fans can expect:

"We're trying to make what's on Paramount Plus different from anywhere else, so hourlong made-for-TV movies is where our head is at. We’ll do two made-for-TV movies every year. They will be big, but they are not quite movie scale.

"We're at where a lot of people are at, which is the future kind of sucks. We would like to get back to where each week we can do something totally different. We tried to experiment with serialization. That had mixed results. And the past five or six years have been dominated by Trump, being political and the tonal change of society. And then the pandemic. We don’t want everything to be about the pandemic, but that is what is going on."

South Park's last proper season came in late 2019. However, "The Pandemic Special" and "South ParQ Vaccination Special" aired last September and this March, respectively.
