'The Kelly Clarkson Show' will replace Ellen DeGeneres' time slot

Ellen DeGeneres announced earlier this month that her iconic eponymous daytime talk show will conclude following its 19th season next spring.

The Hollywood Reporter relayed Wednesday that Kelly Clarkson will be a direct beneficiary:

"The Kelly Clarkson Show has been slotted to take over the daytime slot currently occupied by Ellen when the latter show comes to an end next year. Clarkson’s show—which is owned and produced by NBC’s syndication arm—will take over the slot in fall 2022 on NBC-owned stations.

"NBC has carried Ellen in major markets across the nation. Clarkson’s show currently airs across the country on 200 stations and will be billed as daytime’s headliner in leading time slots next year after DeGeneres wraps her longtime run."

THR had the exclusive on DeGeneres's decision back on May 12, and then the 63-year-old comedian and host made it official:

The Kelly Clarkson Show debuted in September 2019, and the three-time Grammy winner seamlessly slipped into hosting duties. Her "Kellyoke" segment, where the OG American Idol champion shows off her generational voice, has quickly become a fan favorite.

The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show are both up for outstanding entertainment talk show at the upcoming 48th Daytime Emmys, as the nominees were unveiled Tuesday.
