The full trailer for Tron Ares shows off the stunning visuals that the series is known for, and it also gives the audience a taste of its interesting premise. In the new movie, the digital world of the Grid has merged with our world, which means that things are about to change forever for the two worlds of Tron.

The Tron Ares Trailer

The trailer opens with a demonstration, where a voiceover narrator talks about how humanity has wondered if they are alone in the universe ever since time began. He shifts his talk to digital worlds before unveiling Ares (played by Jared Leto ), a digital soldier from the Grid world. Ares is super strong, super agile, and completely replaceable if he falls in battle. At first, Ares seems to be mindless and subject to the will of his superiors, but as the trailer progresses, he states that, “I’m looking for something… something I do not understand.” Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) calls him “a malfunctioning program who wants to live.”

The Unique Visual Style of Tron

As was demonstrated in the teaser, Tron Ares looks like it will maintain the series’ unique, light-on-dark visuals. Streaks of colored neon on the hunters, light cycles, and the programs’ outfits against a dark world give off an unsettling, futuristic vibe. The Grid is not a safe place, but it is an intriguing place. This looks like it will be a movie best experienced on the big screen, where you can truly appreciate being immersed in the Grid.

Will Sam Flynn be in Tron Ares?

Kevin Flynn will make a return despite dying in Tron: Legacy. He will apparently be given a digital resurrection of some kind. However, there has been no confirmation that his son, Sam (Garrett Hedlund), or the last Iso, Quorra (Olivia Wilde), will be in the new movie. Since they were the lead characters in Tron: Legacy, it feels odd not to include them. However, Tron Ares seems to want to take the series in a bold new direction. The movie is set to release on October 10, 2025.
