All the success of "The White Lotus" can't keep Mike White away from Jeff Probst and company. White is one of the most-famous people to ever compete on "Survivor," CBS' medium-changing reality-competition show. Back during the show's 37th season, in 2018, White was a contestant on "Survivor," and finished as the runner-up. Since then, his already successful career has taken off. However, the cast for the 50th season of "Survivor" is being unveiled, and guess who's part of it?
Yes, White is back for another run at winning "Survivor." This is an anniversary season, and an all-timer season, and White makes the cut for that. Plus, we mean, why wouldn't they want the "White Lotus" guy back on the show?
White is an unabashed fan of reality shows of this ilk, and has also competed on "The Amazing Race." In the past, White expressed skepticism about every being asked back on "Survivor." "I don’t think they want the Hollywood Goliath who knows Probst to win a season. Now that Probst knows I can get to the end, I don’t think he wants there to be a chance of that happening again," he explained. Conversely, Probst had his own skepticism. After "White Lotus" took off, Probst said he thought to himself, "Well, he’ll never play again."
All that skepticism has proven ill-considered. White is indeed back. It might be hard for the famous guy with the hit TV show who will not be able to hide who he is to win the 50th season of "Survivor," but we shall see.
