'Wonder Man' promo clip teases Simon Williams' super secret
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams on Wonder Man Marvel Studios

The MCU’s upcoming Disney+ series is going meta. And then it’s going meta inside its meta story. The show stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor who wants to be a superhero. Not a real superhero, though. He’s not hoping to join the Avengers. Simons wants to play a superhero in a big screen remake of an old superhero story. And that film’s director want to blur the lines between fiction and reality. The only thing he doesn’t want to do is cast an actual superhero.

And if you can’t see where this is going, Wonder Man‘s new promo makes it clearer than ever. Simon Williams thinks he was born to play this specific part because he’s hiding a super secret.

Simon Williams is about to shake up the MCU. Literally, as this trailer shows. This latest look at the character’s upcoming introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe teases his super powers. Not that he wants anyone to know about them. He’s hoping to keep those abilities a secret as he pursues his actual dream job. Simon’s not interested in joining the ranks of Earth’s mightiest heroes. He’s not hanging out with Bruce Banner. Instead the MCU’s most notorious in-world actor, Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, is serving as his unlikely mentor. Because Simon only wants to play a fictional superhero on the big screen, and actually possessing them could ultimately keep that from happening.

:Inception ‘brahm’ noise:

Wonder Man comes from co-creators and showrunners Daniel Destin Cretton and Andrew Guest. The eight-episode first season also stars Demetrius Grosse and Ed Harris. Arian Moayed will also reprise her MCU role as Department of Damage Control Agent P. Cleary.

When and how will any of them figure out why Simon is so perfectly imperfect for the role of Wonder Man? We’ll find out when the show debuts at Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
